Born in 1979, Marco Longo studied composition at Conservatory of Trento (L. Cori, L. Polato, C. Colazzo) and at Accademia Nazionale di S.Cecilia in Rome (I. Fedele).
He also followed composition courses with A.Corghi and M.Bonifacio (Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Fondazione Romanini in Brescia, Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna) and took part in several seminars and masterclasses (A. Solbiati, S. Gervasoni, N. Vassena a.o.).

He was admitted at the Schloss Solitude Summer Academy in Stuttgart (C. Czernowin, S. Takasugi and A. Wolman) and attended the 46th Summer Courses in Darmstadt and the 8th Impuls Academy in Graz, following especially the classes of Pierluigi Billone.


His works works have been played in several festivals and venues in Europe, USA and China, such as Festival Pontino (Latina), Festival Rondò (Milano), New Music Miami, Festival Mixtur (Barcelona), Mise-en Festival (New York), Mostra Sonora (Sueca-Valencia), Parco della Musica (Roma), Festival Nuova Musica (Treviso), GAMO (Firenze), Chengdu Conservatory (China), Noisy Nights (St.Andrews), Festival 5Giornate (Milano), Bellagio Festival, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Cluster (Lucca), Nuova Consonanza (Roma), Festival Il Suono (Città di Castello), ISCM World New Music Days (Beijing), NOSPR (Katowice), Echoes of Time (Miami), International Review of Composers (Belgrade), Encuentros Sonoros (Sevilla), Twin Cities New Music Festival (USA) etc.


Ensembles and soloists who have performed his music include Divertimento Ensemble, Dedalo Ensemble, SurPlus, AlterEgo, dissonArt, L’arsenale, PMCE, Vertixe Sonora, mise-en ensemble, Nodus, Red Note ensemble, NewMade ensemble, Ensemble SuonoGiallo, Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej, Imago Sonora, Alda Caiello, Maria Grazia Bellocchio, Francesco Gesualdi, Dario Savron, Marco Fusi.


He has won prizes and honour mentions at several composition competitions: National Prize of Arts, “Premio Bucchi” (Roma), “A. Manoni” competition, G.A.M.’s Composition Competition (Milano), Jeunesse Musical Competition (Bucarest), MeA Competition (Roma), AFAM Competition (Milano), Sun River Prize (China), "L.Nono" (Torino), Wroclaw International Competition (Poland), Premio F. Evangelisti (Roma), Irino Prize (Tokyo).

His music has been broadcasted by Rai RadioTre and RadioClassica.


He is a co-founder of MotoContrario, a musical ensemble and a collective of composers and performers, born for the study and the divulgation of the contemporary repertoire.



At 20, after finishing the piano studies at the Conservatory of Trento, under the guide of L. Di Paolo and S. Torri, he has followed several courses and masterclasses with pianists like A. Ciccolini, A. Cohen, M. Campanella, L. Margarius and A. Kravtchenko.

In that years he was awarded in some italian piano competitions like “Città del Vasto”, “Città di Monopoli” and “AMA Calabria”.


Since his youth, he deepened the knowledge of chamber music repertoire, studying with several distinguished interpreters, like G. Guarino, E. Bronzi, J. Peitz and P. Masi, playing in ensembles from duo to quintet.


For almost ten years he has steadily collaborated with the cellist Ivo Brigadoi; they have been invited to hold concerts in Italy and abroad and the duo has been also mentioned and awarded in several competitions (Riccione - I prize, Arezzo - I prize, Livorno - II prize, Pistoia - II prize, Torino - III prize).

The duo was admitted at the International Chamber Music School of the “Trio di Trieste”, studying with D. De Rosa, R. Zanettovich, M. Jones and E. Bronzi, obtaining the Merito Diploma; has also obtained the Master Diploma of the Imola Academy, after studying with P. Masi.


In the last years, he has begun to focus my pianistic activity on the nowadays music: he is a co-founder of MotoContrario, a musical ensemble and a collective of composers and performers, born for the study and the divulgation of the contemporary repertoire.
